Project QaneBrella for Cancer Warriors
CAMPAIGN HAS ENDED
Hello! We are Project Qanebrella from St. Joseph's Institution International. We are raising awareness and funds for the Singapore Cancer Society's cancer warriors under the Citi-YMCA Youth for Causes Programme (YFC) 2019.
6 years ago, 9-year-old Ian Hao and his sister Ing Le were eating at a hawker center when they noticed an old lady drinking coffee with a walking cane leaning on the table. As it was smooth, the cane fell to the ground. When the old lady attempted to retrieve the fallen cane, she slipped and fell, injuring her head in the process. From then on, they decided that the walking cane should not be a hazard, but a benefit to the user. Thus, the QaneMate was born.
Now, the QaneMate has undergone countless prototypes, and our team is proud to present the 16th and latest: The QaneBrella.
The QaneBrella is a multi-functional umbrella-walking stick. Equipped with an arthritis-free, ergonomic and stress-free grip, it offers a smart, convenient and affordable alternative to single-point walking canes, which deteriorate balance, strength and postural stability. With it comes the QaneMate, which keeps the QaneBrella upright and standing when not held by the user. This reduces the risk of cane-related falls as thousands of users are prone to falling over while picking up their canes. The QaneMate is also reflective for added visibility and safety at night. The QaneBrella also contains a smart NFC chip within the QaneMate. Compatible with over 100 different smartphones, the chip allows the user to see the weather forecast and UV index for the day at the tip of their fingers. On the QaneBrella there are also additional reflective discs incorporated into the design to increase visibility in trying weather.
Our team has a vision of incorporating our patented invention, the QaneBrella in support of the SCS Zentangle Art Program by having them hand-painted by our volunteers together with cancer warriors.
Each QaneBrella will be uniquely hand-painted by cancer warriors and given as a token of appreciation for each donation of $100 & above. For more pictures, information and inquiries, please visit www.qanemate.com or email us at qanemate@gmail.com.
